The data were collected at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, Mass during 1986. This data frame is a reparameterization of the birthwt data frame from the MASS package. WebThe purpose of the study is to identify possible risk factors associated with low infant birth weight. Using the study and the data, we introduce four methods for variable selection: (1) all possible subsets (best subsets) analysis, (2) backward elimination, (3) forward selection, and (4) Stepwise selection/regression.
